Researchers: Suicide Is The 10th Leading Cause Of Death Among Young Children

Researchers at Nationwide Children's Hospital loo at the causes of childhood suicide.

Researchers at Nationwide Children's Hospital say there are differences between children and young teenagers who die by suicide.

Jeff Bridge heads the Suicide Prevention Center at Children's. He says there are warning signs to watch for.

“A sudden change in mood, a sudden withdrawal from friends or activities where the child used to really love to participate and suddenly they don't want to participate anymore," Bridge explained.

Bridge says younger children who die by suicide are more likely to have mental health or behavioral problems than older children who take their own lives.
