Former Chicago transportation official John Bills was sentenced Monday to 10 years in prison after he was convicted of taking bribes to steer $100 million in red-light camera contracts to Phoenix-based Redflex.  Sentencing was handed down in federal court in Chicago.

That’s the same company that operated Columbus’s red-light cameras.

Meanwhile disgraced Columbus lobbyist John Raphael has begun serving a 15-month sentence at a federal prison in South Carolina.  Raphael pleaded guilty to extorting campaign contributions for Columbus politicians from the Redflex company.
