Mayor of Hillsboro and Veteran Comedian Heads To Court On Four Felony Counts

youtube.com

The mayor of Hillsboro, Ohio is due to face a judge in his first court hearing since an indictment on four felony counts.

Veteran stand-up comedian Drew Hastings is scheduled Monday to appear before former Summit County Common Pleas Judge Patricia Ann Cosgrove. The retired judge was appointed for the proceedings in Highland County after a local judge recused himself.

Hastings is Hillsboro's second-term mayor. He was indicted last month on counts including election falsification and theft in office.

Hastings says he has done nothing wrong other than try to lead the city without the consent of the "established political structure."

The election falsification charge concerns his residency in the city of 6,600 residents, where he has a downtown apartment. He also has a farm outside of town.
