Columbus Realtors say the cost of buying a house in Central Ohio rose to a new record high in June.
The real estate group said, in June, the average cost of a home in Central Ohio was more than $216,000.
That's a 5.5 percent increase over the same period last year.
Columbus Realtors President John Royer said houses continue to be a hot commodity in Central Ohio with more than 3,200 houses and condos sold in June. That's a five percent rise over May.
Royer says housing inventory remains low. Last month, he said, 40 percent of potential buyers reported trouble finding a house that fit their needs.
Royer said houses are selling fast, spending an average of one month on the market.
