OSU Reportedly Pulls Brutus From Pride Festival Over Safety Concerns

Ohio State University

Ohio State University officials have reportedly canceled an appearance by the school’s mascot Brutus at this weekend’s Pride Festival because of safety concerns.

The LGBT publication Outlook Columbus says the change was announced in an email from an OSU cheerleading coach and it follows the mass shooting at a gay club in Orlando.

The gay pride event in downtown Columbus runs Friday through Sunday.

Columbus Police have said they'll have more uniformed and undercover officers at this year's festival because of the events in Orlando.
