Columbus Housing Inventory Hits Record Low

A Columbus Realtors group says the housing inventory is at an all-time low.

A Columbus Realtor's group says there were nearly 50 percent more homes sold in March than in the month before.

But the group reports, housing inventory dropped 21 percent last month from a year ago.

The Realtor's association says inventory levels have not been this low since 2000.

Columbus Realtors President John Royer says there was a 2 month inventory of houses for sale last month, the lowest on record.

"There are a lot of homeowners that have elected to remodel their existing homes, plus I think the inventory of new lots available for new home construction has been way down over the last 3 or 4 years," Royer said.

Royer says houses and condos are selling briskly at an average price of $191,432.
