A judge has denied bond to a man accused of critically wounding a Columbus SWAT officer after opening fire on a SWAT team trying to arrest him.
44 year old Lincoln Rutledge appeared in court today on charges including felonious assault.
Ohio State University officials say Rutledge resigned this month from an information technology job there. The university says Rutledge's building access was revoked in March when he began to behave erratically.
Columbus Police say Rutledge shot Columbus SWAT Officer Steven M. Smith and held police at bay for several hours in Sunday's standoff.
Rutledge's estranged wife told police he had mental-health issues.
Smith remains on life support.
