Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther Calls North Carolina Transgender Law 'Bad for Country'

file
The mayor of Columbus says discrimination has no place in our great country.

Columbus mayor Andrew Ginther today spoke out against North Carolina's newly passed law barring transgender people from using bathrooms other than the gender matching their birth certificates.

In a statement today, Ginther said, " North Carolina's HB2 hurts not just our LGBTQ community, but the nation as a whole."

"Columbus stands with the people of of North Carolina-- all of the people--to overturn this legislation that serves not purpose other than to encourage hate and exclusion," Ginther added.

Ginther stopped short of banning non-essential travel to North Carolina as officials in other states have done.
