Chairman of Franklin County Emergency Management and Homeland Security, Michael Pannell has resigned.

A statement released by the agency says the executive board remains focused on "helping to keep Franklin County residents safe."

No information was released on why Pannell resigned.  Other media outlets report that Pannell had been on paid leave prior to the announcement of his resignation.

The board named Darrel Koerber interim director while the search begins for a new director.
