Circleville Wants Female Firefighter Harassment Suit Dismissed

Circleville Fire Department

The lawyer for a central Ohio city is asking a judge to dismiss a lawsuit by a female ex-firefighter who says she was the longtime victim of sexual harassment.

Amie Morningstar of the Circleville Fire Department alleged she was subjected to equipment tampering, clothing destruction and gender-related slurs. She also said she was required to meet tougher training and work standards than male counterparts and denied promotions because she's a woman.

Her attorney, Brian Duncan, says she was fired Feb. 5 after not reporting to work after using up all her personal leave.

The lawsuit seeks an immediate end to the alleged harassment and damages exceeding $75,000.

An attorney representing the city and fire department filed a motion last week denying the allegations.
