The Human Right Campaign has given its highest-possible rating to the city of Columbus for LGBT laws and policies.

The Human Rights Campaign’s annual Municipal Equality Index gives Columbus a score of 100 and calls it a shining beacon of hope along with Cincinnati and Dayton.

The cities are rated on things including non-discrimination laws, employment policies, insurance coverage, and law enforcement policies.

The report also praised Cincinnati for becoming the first city in the nation to ban the controversial practice of conversion therapy. E

Forty-seven cities earned a perfect score. Eight cities were given a score of zero. All were in the South or Alaska.
