Republican Lt. Gov. Mary Taylor says she's "seriously considering" a run for Ohio governor in 2018.
Taylor's comments Tuesday to reporters follow the recent formation of a new nonprofit that could aid in her potential gubernatorial bid.
The entity, Onward Ohio, also has sought 527 tax-exempt status with the IRS, which allows it to raise money for general political activities.
Taylor said the organization is designed to promote the "common sense, innovative policies" that she and Gov. John Kasich have worked on. She's frequently appeared in Kasich's stead since he launched his presidential campaign in July.
Taylor is one of three high-profile Republicans considering gubernatorial runs. The others are Attorney General Mike DeWine, a former U.S. senator; and Secretary of State Jon Husted, a former Ohio House speaker.
