Police are investigating a shooting with an assault rifle at a central Ohio grocery that killed one man and injured a teenage girl.
Columbus police say they were called to the La Michoacana grocery around 8:30 Thursday night on the report of a shooting at the store on Cleveland Avenue.
A police statement Friday said that the preliminary investigation shows that an unknown male suspect entered the market with an assault rifle and began shooting, striking a man and girl behind the counter. Authorities say 36-year-old Bacilio Alcauter died at the scene. The 15-year-old girl was taken to a hospital in critical condition.
Authorities say the motive has not been determined. But police say the shooting did not appear to have been robbery-related.
