Columbus Mayor Michael Coleman today moved forward on a plan to implement body cameras for police.
Coleman announced the formation of a nine-person committee to recommend the best way to implement a body camera program next year for the Division of Police.
In a statement today Coleman said, "This technology can be used to improve safety and serve as a tool to protect both police officers and the citizens they encounter."
Coleman says the committee will have 4 to 6 months to study the issue. He says all of the committee's meeting will be open to the public.
