The two candidates for Columbus mayor today unveiled plans they say will strengthen ethics rules at city hall.
Columbus city council president Andrew Ginther called for a review of the city's campaign finance disclosure laws. He also called for a look at city laws regarding lobbyist registration and access to city records.
Ginther is under scrutiny by the FBI and the U.S. Justice Department after an executive at the city's red light camera provider said she gave money to Columbus city officials in order to secure a contract with the city.
Ginther's opponent, Sheriff Zach Scott called for stricter ethics rules and training.
In an e-mail today, Scott said his first order of business would be to crack down on lobbyists and others doing business with the city and to require city employees to undergo ethics training each year.
