Columbus Police say the body of a man who had been reported missing by his family was found in the basement of a home on city's South Side.

Police were called around 2:40 p.m. Sunday by a man who told officers he found his son dead at a home on South Champion Avenue.

Sgt. David Sicilian identified the man as 28-year-old Dametrious Edwards Sunday night. Edwards was last seen by his family on Thursday.

Police executed a search warrant to gather evidence from the property. They are treating the death as a homicide.

Sicilian says the Franklin County coroner will determine the cause of Edwards' death.

No arrests have been made at this time.
