A Columbus Firefighter died in an auto accident Monday night in rural Union County.
Columbus Fire Department officials say 48 year old Herman Tidwell crashed on Bear Swamp Road, northwest of Marysville. No word on what caused the crash.
Tidwell had been a firefighter for 23 years and had received the Distinguished Service Award in 1995 and 2005.
