Columbus City Council President Andrew Ginther strongly denies asking a red light camera company for campaign contributions in return for favorable treatment.
In an afternoon news conference Ginther, who is running for mayor, said reports linking him to a bribery investigation are based on errors and misconceptions.
In a plea agreement, a former RedFlex company executive accuses Columbus elected officials of requesting campaign contributions in exchange for city contracts. A crosscheck of court records with campaign finance reports shows Ginther’s campaign received one of the questionable contributions.
Ginther vowed to clear his name and the name of Columbus City Government which he says does not operate a ‘pay-to-play’ system .
