A fire in Marion claimed one life Tuesday morning.

Fire officials say a Marion fire early this morning was arson.  They say 34-year-old Christopher Glass set the fire in the home he shared with his grandmother. He then went upstairs where he shot himself in the head.

Marion Fire Captain Wade Ralph says 71-year-old Mahalie Moore, is being treated at OSU Medical Center.

“She knew that her grandson was upstairs. She had to exit through a window so she sustained some burns and lacerations due to her exiting the house and then she did attempt to go back in that house to make a rescue of him,” said Ralph.

The state fire marshal assisted in the investigation.
