Ohio's Department of Natural Resources is forecasting a good fishing season for Lake Erie.
Lake Erie fisheries program manager Jeff Tyson says the lake has a stable population of walleye, yellow perch, black bass, white bass and steelhead with a wide variety of sizes.
The state says there's a solid number of large walleye in the lake with some walleye nearing or exceeding 28 inches.
Yellow perch also are expected to be in good supply with the biggest being found in the eastern areas of the lake's central basin.
The fishing forecast also predicts a good outlook for steelhead and white bass while it says smallmouth bass fishing is likely to be fair but better than recent years.
