Ohio State University’s newest president plans to lay out his vision for the university at a formal installation ceremony months after his rough start as the school’s 15th leader.
President Michael Drake will take an oath of office Tuesday and receive the presidential medallion under a long-time Ohio State tradition.
The 64-year-old Drake started his term last June after being recruited from the University of California-Irvine. He is an ophthalmologist by training.
Drake had been in office only a few weeks when the school fired its marching band director, Jonathan Waters, after determining he knew about but failed to stop a “sexualized culture” in the band.
Band alumni denounced the decision, and Waters has sued for reinstatement.
