The value of gas trapped in shale formations beneath Ohio is one of the topics of an energy summit this week in Columbus. Gov. John Kasich says the two-day event beginning Wednesday on the Ohio State University campus is aimed at finding ways for the state to better manage an issue vital for creating jobs and growing its economy. The potential impact of unlocking natural gas from shale is one of the subjects to be explored on the summit's first day. Other issues on the summit agenda include coal; renewable energy sources such as wind and solar power; and alternative transportation fuels.
