A West High School student is in critical condition following emergency surgery after he was stabbed at school. WOSU reports parents appeal for more security. "I just seen him pull out the knife, but I didnât think he was going to use it or whatever," West High School freshman Tiffany Woodruff said. Woodruff stood next to 14-year old Jaquan Greene-Tucker as his throat was cut during an argument with another student. Woodruff is scared to go back to school. And her mom, Carrie Cassidy, said sheâll enroll her daughter somewhere else. "I donât think she could step foot back in the school right now. I wouldnât want her to," Cassidy said. "I think they need metal detectors in the schools and the wands to check for things like that," Melody Berry said. She was not the only parent who called for tightened security. A Columbus City Schools spokesperson says additional security measures are planned, but he could not give details. Police arrested 14-year-old Marcos Solis and charged him in the stabbing. Lisa Johnson is a neighbor of the two students who live on Mildand Avenue. Johnson said the teens have been fighting for weeks. "I knew there was going to be some tension between them for a while, but I didnât think it was going to result in this," Johnson said. Ironically, Greene-Tuckerâs throat was cut following an assembly where freshmen received a Guide To Positive Student Behavior.
