It's been about a month since Columbus began enforcing its curfew rules. The law requires children under age 13 to be off the streets one hour after sunset to 4:30 a-m. Teens ages 13 to 17 need to be home by midnight.
Executive of Juvenile Justice Programs of the Y-M-C-A of Central Ohio, Don Heard, says 18 minors were taken to the curfew drop-off center in June.
Heard says 60 percent of the kids violating the curfew law have shown up for the three hour workshop required after the first violation. The program, which costs about 75-thousand dollars from the city's Safety Initiative Funds, runs through August.
Heard says he can not give July's numbers until they are signed off by the city.
