Former vice presidential candidate John Edwards says a minimum-wage hike in Ohio could lead to similar moves across the nation.
Edwards made the remarks at a conference in Columbus to promote raising the state's minimum wage.
Edwards is a potential presidential candidate for the 2008. He spoke to a crowd of about two-thousand at the convention for the Association of Community Organizations for Reform Now.
Edwards said the Democratic Party should have "a little backbone and a little guts" in standing up for those who have no voice. A proposed state ballot measure seeks to raise the minimum wage to $6.85 an hour from the federal minimum of $5.15 per hour.
