The Columbus City Attorney and a multi-jurisdictional group of law enforcement officials hope better communication amongst departments will lead to more arrests and convictions of stalkers.
The group Wednesday announced a new way to share information about stalkers and their crimes.
Officials say the new communcation tool could help law enforcment intervene in cases before they escalate to violence or death.
A database regulated by the city attorney's office will hold information about stalker cases. That information will be accessible by law enforcement departments across the county.
Columbus City Attorney Richard Pfeiffer says while the number of stalking cases has remained fairly consisitent over the years, on average his office actively investigates one case per day.
