Dewey Stokes announces opposition to tire plant

Franklin County Commissioner Dewey Stokes has come out against a plan to covert the closed south Columbus trash burning plant into a tire recycling facility.

Stokes is also a member of the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, or SWACO, board.

Some neighbors of the plant oppose its use as a plant to melt and recyle old tires. The Ohio Environmental Protection Agency granted the company a preliminary permit saying the tire-melting process would be clean and odorless.
