Travelers continue to deal with flight disruptions during the most recent COVID surge. There have been dozens of travel delays and cancellations at John Glenn International Airport.
Latonya McGowan planned a special trip to San Franciso with her teenage daughter Tiara and for months worried that the pandemic might be a problem. Her fears were realized when just before she was scheduled to leave she was notified that her flight had been canceled and they had already booked her on another flight with a different departure date than her original booking.
"The day before, on the 23rd, I got a text message saying 'we rescheduled your flight to the 26th'. And I said, 'Oh, we want to leave on the 24th. We have reservations planned on the 25th. That's not going to work'," said McGowan.
McGowan was eventually put on a different flight departing the same day as her original booking, but that flight was also canceled.
McGowan, who was supposed to arrive in San Francisco by noon on December 24, did not get to the city by the Bay until around 8 p.m. that evening.
Despite the delays, McGowan said she feels fortunate. Many others she talked to were not expected to make it to their destinations until the next day.
