Columbus City Council has voted to roll back the city's mask mandate after local health officials recommended the move last month. The repeal takes effect with the signature of Mayor Andrew Ginther.
The move brings the city into line with the latest CDC guidance, but local officials are quick to argue it is not a declaration of victory over the COVID-19 pandemic.
Less than half of city residents have been vaccinated. Columbus Public Health Commissioner Dr. Mysheika Roberts encourages people who haven't gotten inoculated yet to get their shot and wear a mask until they're fully vaccinated.
Ohio let its mask mandate expire on June 2 and Franklin County dropped its mask mandate late last month.
