Sensory Science Fun: Exploring Matter (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
Using a variety of teaching strategies and Ohio’s Early Learning & Development Standards as a guide, this workshop will focus on helping participants understand how to support the development of young children’s scientific inquiry skills as they explore the different states of matter through their senses.
Out of This World (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
This workshop will focus on supporting scientific inquiry skills in young children as they explore familiar elements in nature such as the sun and moon, night and day, and light and shadow.
STEM Everywhere Every Day (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
Everyday routines can provide wonderful opportunities to incorporate STEM (science, technology, engineering and math) learning into a child’s day in meaningful and relevant ways. Explore resources and strategies that will engage young children in age-appropriate, STEM-related activities that connect to everyday routines.
Let’s Get WILD: Engaging Children through Nature (Ohio Approved Hours: 3)
Use Growing Up WILD Curriculum and PBS resources to engage children in science, math, literacy, music and movement. Learn while having hands-on fun. Topics and resources include: camouflage, life cycles, spiders, ants, computer games, video, hands-on fun and activities.
Social & Emotional
Reducing Stress and Building Resilience (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
This workshop will help early childhood educators and providers to identify personal stress triggers and develop strategies to cope with stress and practice mindfulness. Participants will also practice multiple teaching strategies that will support young children’s self-regulation skills and positive social behaviors.
Teaching Persistence (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
This workshop for early childhood educators and providers will focus on multiple teaching strategies that will support young children’s persistence in carrying out challenging tasks including self-help skills such as buttoning, tying and zipping.
Won’t You Be My Neighbor? Supporting Social & Emotional Development (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
Participants will be able to identify multiple strategies that can be used to build positive relationships with young children and to help young children cope with separation anxiety.
Terrific Transition Tips for Preschoolers (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
For some children, daily routines and transitions can be very challenging. This workshop will explore several strategies for making transition times with young children easier and more successful.

Play is critical to the development of young children. Participants who attend this training will be able to describe how children learn through play and will explore a variety of strategies that will support children’s playful learning experiences.

Using a playful approach and Ohio’s Early Learning & Development Standards as a guide, this workshop will focus on helping participants understand how to support the development of preschoolers’ math skills, specifically number sense and counting.
Problem Solved! Hands-on Pre-K Math Experiences

Preschool math activities do not need to be complicated. There are opportunities to expose young children to math in fun, hands-on ways! Using a variety of teaching strategies and Ohio’s Early Learning & Development Standards as a guide, this workshop will focus on helping participants understand how to imbed math opportunities in everyday activities.
Literacy
The ABCs of Getting Ready to Read: Supporting Emergent Literacy (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
Using a variety of teaching strategies and Ohio’s Early Learning & Development Standards as a guide, this workshop will focus on helping participants understand how to support the development of preschoolers’ emergent literacy skills, specifically phonemic awareness.
Literacy Experiences Using PBS Resources (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
Participants will learn about PBS Kids resources that can be integrated into any curriculum to foster early literacy skills. We will focus on letter identification, rhyming/decoding, spelling/encoding and reading comprehension.
Writing Fun, Right Now for Preschoolers (Ohio Approved Hours: 2)
Early childhood professionals who attend this training will be introduced to the different stages of writing development in young children and will have the opportunity to practice a variety of engaging instructional strategies that support preschoolers’ emergent writing skills.
