Learn Online, Earn Badges, Get Credit

WOSU Classroom is pleased to offer a series of year-round micro-credentials. Each micro-credential (online course) is self-paced, takes approximately five hours to complete, and comes with digital badges awarded upon completion. Classes are aligned to state and national standards, include examples of classroom integration, and provide voice and choice for all participants. Already know the content? No problem! Skip the content and submit your evidence of learning from the provided Choice Board. Receive a Proficient or Accomplished rating (grading rubrics are provided for each module) from the instructor and you are awarded a badge and certificate of attendance. Graduate credit is available, as well!

What is a digital badge?

Digital badges are similar to the badges earned by Scouts.  Individuals earn a badge when they demonstrate mastery by submitting evidence of learning.  Digital badges are like clipart, with data “baked” into the image.  The data contained includes the course criteria, award date, and awarding institution.

How do I get a Certificate of Attendance?

Students that successfully complete an online course by receiving a proficient or Accomplished rating will receive a certificate of attendance via email from the course instructor.

How do I earn graduate credit?

All badges may be applied toward Ashland University graduate credit. See wosu.org/classroom/graduate-credit/ for details. Participants may combine badges with other WOSU Classroom services to achieve the desired number of contact hours.

12.5 contact hours = 1 semester hour of grad credit = 3 badges
25 contact hours = 2 semester hour of grad credit = 5 badges
37.5 contact hours = 3 semester hour of grad credit = 8 badges

What do I do with a badge?

Badges may be displayed in email signatures, websites, or anywhere you would like to display your achievements.

I’ve earned a badge. Where is it?

Badges are currently awarded through credly.com.

Can a district customize badges for their own professional learning plan?

Absolutely!  We can build badges and learning paths to fit your district’s needs and priorities.  Contact WOSU Classroom for more information.
