Makerspace for Elementary Librarians*

WOSU classroom provides a Makerspace Professional Development program for elementary school librarians that incorporate reading and science resources in a design thinking curriculum. In the quickly growing Makerspace movement, there is a strong need to build academic rigor into the creative spaces where students can gather to create, invent, tinker, explore and discover using a variety of tools and materials. The design thinking model will be an integral part of the program, which allows for rigor in lesson design and builds critical, resilient learners. The goal of this program is to strengthen reading and science curriculum through a perfect blend of high-quality content, rigorous lesson design, and standards alignment in a Makerspace environment designed for the library.

Participants will meet one day a month, December through April. Fee includes class materials (books, Keva Planks, Magnatiles, Lincoln Logs, Kinex, and Legos) for participants to keep. Discounted registration is available for teams that only require one set of class materials.
