Yo-Yo Ma Plays Live Musical Memorial And Tribute

Yo-Yo Ma
Jason Bell

In memory of those we have lost during the pandemic and in honor of those who are on the front lines of this global struggle, world renowned cellist Yo-Yo Ma will perform all six of Bach's Suites for unaccompanied cello on Sunday, May 24 at 3 p.m. EDT.

A Musical Memorial and Tribute: Yo-Yo Ma plays Bach's Solo Cello Suites Live is a one-time-only event featuring the complete Bach suites, performed live from the WGBH studios in Boston. The concert is intended as a memorial for those we have lost in the pandemic and a tribute to the resilience of our communities.

This performance comes during what would have been the now-postponed final leg of Ma's The Bach Project, a 36-stop, six-continent tour of the complete cello suites. The Bach Project is part of a larger conversation about how culture can help us to imagine and build the world we want.

This is a live only event and cannot be recorded for future broadcast. It will be streamed on Yo-Yo Ma's YouTube channel and can be watched below:

The beauty of the music will provide an important moment of reflection for audiences throughout the country. We hope you will join us in honoring the people most affected by the pandemic.
