Music by Caterina Lichtenberg and Mike Marshall Saturday at 7pm on Fretworks.

Three duos with different combinations of instruments are featured this week on Fretworks.  Julian Gray and Ron Pearl have an overture by Handel arranged for two guitars, mandolin players Caterina Lichtenberg and Mike Marshall complete the 15 Two-Part Inventions of J.S. Bach that we began last week, and Flutist Gary Schocker and guitarist Jason Vieaux have the Roumanian Folk Dances of Bela Bartok.

Canadian guitarist Norbert Kraft is the soloist in the opening section of the Carmen Concerto by Peter Breiner, who based his work on music from Georges Bizet's opera Carmen.  Breiner is also a conductor, and he will lead the Polish Natl Radio Symphony in this performance.

We'll also hear Manuel Ponce's Sonata Mexicana played by Eladio Scharron.  Scharron is a professor of classical guitar at the University of Central Florida.  He studied guitar at the Universality of Puerto Rico with Ernesto Cordero, who wrote the Concierto Evocativo we heard on last week's program.

Join me Saturday and Wednesday evenings at 7 for music of the classical guitar on Fretworks on Classical 101.  Here's Caterina Lichtenberg and Mike Marshall playing some Bach:
