According to writer Thomas C. Wolfe, you can't go home again.
As far as Maestro Alessandro Siciliani is concerned, he IS home.
Since he and the Columbus Symphony parted ways just over 10 years ago, Columbus has remained home. For the last three years, the Maestro has helped nurture and encourage local musicians in his role as Music Director of Opera Project Columbus.
Classical 101's Christopher Purdy is stage director for the production. In last Sunday's Columbus Dispatch, Christopher said, “He connects with the audience like nobody I’ve ever seen. He could just stand there and wave his red handkerchief, and they would love him."
Siciliani, however, is not content to rest on his laurels.
Their upcoming production of Pietro Mascagni's Cavalleria rusticana is your next opportunity to experience some of the wealth of talent which calls Central Ohio home.
Alessandro Siciliani is slated to join me in the Classical 101 studios Wednesday morning at 9:00am to discuss the coming performances. I hope you'll join us!
Here is the most often heard portion of Cavalleria rusticana, the Intermezzo. This weekend is your opportunity to hear the entire opera!
