Yannick Nézet-Séguin conducts the Philadelphia Orchestra tonight on Classical Showcase.";

It's a bel canto opera bonanza on Classical 101 Friday evening at 7.  The "Carnegie Hall Live" series that we have been presenting on Classical Showcase, will feature a concert performance from the Philadelphia Orchestra and  vocal soloists for music of Rossini, Donizetti, Bellini, Crafa, and Pacini.

Mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, soprano Laura Claycomb, and tenor Lawrence Brownlee perform in an evening of Italian opera arias, scenes, and orchestral selections with Maurizio Benini conducting the Philadelphia Orchestra.  Selections from bel canto opera favorites from Bellini, Rossini and Donzetti will be interspersed with some less well-known musical gems of the same period from Michala Carafa and Giovanni Pacini.

Deborah Voigt will be the host for this evening of beautiful singing and orchestral music from a tradition that reached its height in the late 18th to early 19th centuries.

Classical Showcase airs Friday at 7 pm on Classical 101.
