This week on Fretworks, I have as featured  guest artist, Paraguayan guitarist Berta Rojas, who will join us via telephone.

She'll share some thoughts about her life and career, including  her passion for the music of Agustin Barrios and her recording  with the the Recycled Instruments Orchestra of Cateura.

I'll have some music from her recording, "Intimate Barrios," and from "Salsa Rojas," which features a piece titled Tambito josefino by Edin Solis with Berta Rojas and the Recycled Instruments Orchestra.

Also, to open the program this Saturday, I have an arrangement of music by  George Frideric Handel for mandolin and lute with Caterina Lichtenberg and Mirko Schrader.  To close the hour, the Academy Chamber Ensemble and Pepe Romero will play Luigi Boccherini's Guitar Quintet No. 6 in G.

Join me for music of the classical guitar, plus a few more unusual instruments this week, on Fretworks on Classical 101, Saturday evening at 7 and Wednesday at 7.

You can see some of the "recycled" instruments and Berta Rojas with the orchestra below:
