Contact: Meredith Hart, Marketing & Communications Director

COLUMBUS, OHIO, APRIL 4, 2016 — WOSU Public Media, Classical 101 and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra will come together this spring to host a free “Youth & Family Concert” on Thursday, April 14 at WOSU@COSI. Seating opens at 1:15 p.m. and the concert will begin at 1:30 p.m.

Classical 101’s Boyce Lancaster will host the family-friendly performance by the ProMusica Chamber Orchestra’s string section under the guidance of Music Director David Danzmayr. This collaboration between Classical 101 and ProMusica Chamber Orchestra encourages children and families to get more involved with music education and experience live performances.

The concert is an offshoot of ProMusica’s Youth & Family Program and marks the third year of partnership with WOSU Public Media on such an event. This year, students from ProMusica’s Play Us Forward Program, an initiative that provides musical instruction to four urban Columbus charter schools including Knowledge is Power Program (KIPP), Graham Expeditionary Middle School (GEMS), United Schools Network CCA Dana and CCA Main, will be welcomed by Boyce Lancaster and Christopher Purdy of Classical 101 and work directly with ProMusica musicians on a series of music education activities prior to the public concert.

Founded in 1978, ProMusica Chamber Orchestra delivers a world-class and unique classical music experience – through innovative chamber orchestra programming, educational outreach, audience intimacy and artistic excellence.

Classical 101, at 101.1 FM, is the only all-day classical music radio station in Central Ohio and is the hub of a five-station network of classical stations across Ohio.
