WOSU Launches Second Saturday Kids Days Event Series
COLUMBUS, OHIO, MARCH 23, 2022 – WOSU Public Media will launch the WOSU Second Saturday Kids Days event series with the inaugural event on Saturday, April 9 from 9:00–11:00am at the new WOSU headquarters (1800 N. Pearl Street, Columbus, Ohio 43201).
WOSU Second Saturday Kids Days are free events that take place in the Ross Community Studio at the WOSU headquarters. Kids and families are invited to take part in hands-on educational activities with WOSU Classroom, the education division of WOSU Public Media; watch PBS KIDS programs; and visit with special guests straight from PBS!
Each Second Saturday event will have a new theme that combines imagination, interaction and technology to help kids explore art, science, math and reading. Children will experience learning through characters they already know and love, like Peg + Cat, Curious George, Super Why and more.
“We couldn’t be more excited to welcome kids and families into our brand-new building for Second Saturdays!” said Amy Palermo, chief content director for WOSU Classroom. “We hope this event series will bring families together and offer opportunities for kids and caregivers alike to enjoy entertaining and interactive learning experiences.”
Major funding for Second Saturday Kids Days is provided by The DiMarco Family Fund of The Columbus Foundation. When Ann and Tom DiMarco first learned about WOSU’s new headquarters, they looked beyond the physical space to what could happen inside the building. “They tailored the focus of their gift to match what is important to them – families and children,” said Laura Baker, chief development officer for WOSU Public Media. “This generous gift from the DiMarco family provides program funding for the inaugural three years of Second Saturday Kids Days for Central Ohio families.”
Second Saturday Kids Days events are free, but advance registration is required. Visit wosu.org/kidsdays to learn more about the event series and to register for the inaugural event.
