“Tom’s election as the vice chair/chair-elect of the NETA board of directors is a clear indication of his esteem within our profession and the respect we all have for the entire team at WOSU Public Media,” said NETA president Skip Hinton. “He has been instrumental in our consideration of a new strategic plan for NETA and as our chair in 2017 Tom will be an exceptional leader for our membership and staff.”
The National Educational Telecommunications Association is a professional association of 94 public broadcasters representing 97 public television licensees in 43 states, the Virgin Islands, and the District of Columbia. NETA serves all public television licensees by providing high quality general audience content, professional development resources, management support, and national representation.
Tom Rieland has been General Manager of WOSU Public Media for 13 years. He led the Center for Public Television & Radio at the University of Alabama before coming to WOSU. He currently also serves on the PBS Board of Directors; Chairs the Affinity Group Coalition; and is Chair of the Joint Licensees Affinity Group of PBS and NPR stations across the country. He is passionate about being a volunteer for local community groups and serves on the Board of Trustees for the United Way of Central Ohio.
