The New York Times The Daily Will Be Hosted By Celebrated Journalist Michael Barbaro

The Daily logoCOLUMBUS, OHIO, March 27, 2018 – Next week, 89.7 NPR News will launch a radio edition of a popular podcast – Monday, April 2 marks the start of The Daily which will air weeknights at 6:30 p.m.

The Daily delivers a deep examination of the day’s top news stories with host Michael Barbaro and the expertise of more than 1,450 journalists from The New York Times. The new half-hour program, airing five days a week, will analyze topics ranging from Harvey Weinstein and James Comey to the nation’s biggest headlines.

With 4.5 million unique listeners, the podcast that the radio show is inspired by was the most-downloaded new show in 2017 on Apple Podcasts and won the DuPont-Columbia University Award for audio excellence. Barbaro is a former Times political correspondent and previously hosted The Run-up, which covered the 2016 election.

Mike Thompson, WOSU’s Chief Content Director for News and Public Affairs, believes this new show will complement the daily lineup on 89.7 NPR News: “The Daily combines the deep reporting resources of The Times with public radio’s captivating audio storytelling.
