COLUMBUS, OHIO, May 16, 2016 — 89.7 NPR News, the all-day NPR news radio station of WOSU Public Media, was honored with two awards from the Ohio Associated Press Media Editors. The state-wide division of radio stations recognized covers major markets in Ohio, including Cleveland and Cincinnati.
89.7 NPR News received a First Place Award for Best Digital Presence and Reporter Mandie Trimble received a Second Place Award in the category of Best Enterprise Reporting.

Best Enterprise Reporting – Second Place to 89.7 NPR News Reporter Mandie Trimble for “Franklin Co. Police Deadly Force Cases Handled Differently”.
This examination of how the Franklin County’s grand jury process for police-involved cases is handled differently from other cases, analyzed the procedure that if a Columbus police officer or Franklin County sheriff’s deputy uses deadly force the case automatically goes before a grand jury.
