Columbus restaurants and bars will be allowed to serve customers outdoors through November 14 under an extended pilot program.

The pilot program allows restaurants and bars to use the right-of-way for temporary outdoor on-street dining areas or expand seating into their parking lots.

The program started during the summer of 2020 and resumed in March to support businesses during the COVID-19 pandemic.

"The successful pilot supports the industry, our economy, and the health and well-being of our community as we continue to fight this virus,” Columbus Mayor Andrew Ginther said in a news release.

Twelve restaurants are currently utilizing right-of-way dining, and 24 others have dining available in their parking lots.
