You know WOSU’s broadcast productions. "The Pride of the Buckeyes," "Many Happy Returns to Lazarus," "Beyond the Gridiron: The Life and Times of Woody Hayes," "Continential, OH," "Lustron: The House America’s Been Waiting For," and, every Friday night, "Columbus on the Record" originates from our studios. WOSU radio productions bring live performances such as Bernstein’s MASS and Live from the Lancaster Festival to central Ohio’s public radio audiences. Our eight decades of experience makes WOSU a familiar name in the production realm.
We offer live high-definition television (HDTV) production expertise. WOSU continues our role in embracing HDTV technology by transmitting digital programs on WOSU digital channels each day and by committing our resources to high-definition productions.
Beyond the high profile of public broadcasting production, WOSU’s reputation extends to other areas. We produce programming for cable and commercial syndication. Our staff excels in producing commercials and videos to promote corporate image, train staff, or publicize an institution. WOSU’s videoconferencing clients span the country. We have the facilities, equipment, and expertise to bring production success to all such projects—and to yours.
A Wealth of Experience: Technical Know-How WOSU’s production facilities and technical staff operate WOSU TV, WOSU HD, WOSU DT, WOSU Ohio, WOSU Plus, WOSU 89.7, and WOSU 820, every day, 365 days a year. Our highly skilled technicians bring their decades of experience to each new project.
Located in the capital city of Ohio, on The Ohio State University campus, WOSU is situated where news originates. Our facilities operate in the digital domain for all production work and employs experienced technicians who meet the challenges of studio or off-site projects. WOSU field technicians are fully credentialed.
Facilities that Make Your Production Happen WOSU is linked with the satellite and fiber-optic connections you need to broadcast your program. We have established connections at almost any location where you want to broadcast live, and you will be able to plug your equipment into a WOSU connection that can transmit your feed via satellite.
In addition to our programming, we have produced many videoconferences. Productions have originated from our studios and remote locations around the state. For productions based in the WOSU Production Center, our large studio accommodates a full set and an audience.
We offer you all the equipment and connections you need to complete your production from pre- to post-production. Our full-service video facility offers our clients many resources: • Fully equipped broadcast studios (two at Fawcett Center and one at COSI) • Online and offline videotape and Avid editing suites • Datacasting • Electronic field production (EF) video crews • Satellite uplinks and downlinks to C Band and KU Band communications satellites • DVD authoring
Our all-digital radio facilities offer you a variety of services: • In-studio digital two-channel stereo recording and editing • 24-bit two-channel remote audio recording • Multi-format mastering, including CD, DVD, Digital Audio Tape, DAT • Multi-microphone in-studio voice tracking, interviewing, and conferencing • ISDN capabilities (in-studio and remote) • In-studio two-way telephone recording • Audio design and production services, including recording, editing, and mixing
More than Cameras and Microphones: Full-Service Support Beyond our regular production activities, WOSU provides a range of ancillary services that enhance your production from inception to premier. From stellar electronic graphics that accent your program to reception space in our facility, we provide you with a complete package and a well-polished production to fit your needs. Conveniences That Count Located in the Fawcett Center near the Ohio State University campus, the WOSU Production Center is blessed with acres of free parking just minutes from OSU and downtown. With easy access to SR 315 and High Street, we’re easily accessible from city and state government offices by car or taxi.
Port Columbus International Airport is only 20 minutes away by freeway. A variety of lodgings is available nearby, ranging from the upscale executive accommodations at the Blackwell at Ohio State University's Fisher College of Business, to more modest national hotel and motel chains.
The new WOSU@COSI state-of-the-art HD production center will be located at the modern science center, just across the Scioto River from Downtown Columbus, in easy proximity to City Hall and the State Capitol. WOSU@ COSI is the only full-HD production facility in central Ohio.
With 4,200 square feet of studio space at COSI, the studios are also available for social and professional events. Meals or receptions can be catered right in the studio, and you can choose to record and display it all in high-definition video. You can step across the hall to an audio studio or cutting-edge HD edit suite to complete your production. Back to Top
