I was one of those crazy Badger fans in the background of this photo in 1974 at Camp Randall, where the unlikely happened and Wisconsin shocked a heavily favored Nebraska team. The 1974 game was nationally televised in ABC and was quite the thriller. From my perch in the end zone, I vividly recall the moment Jeff Mack crossed into the end zone with just about 3 minutes left in the game and the Badgers took the lead for the first time 21-20. My friend Tim was so overwhelmed that he leaped into the crowd below us, which led to bodies strewn everywhere, but everyone recovered and continued to be in good cheer. Nebraska hasn’t played Wisconsin since that day in 1974, but that is about to all change as the Huskers join the Big Ten Conference next year.

For a memory that Badger fans would rather forget…let’s go back to 2008 and the play of Frosh Quarterback Terrelle Pryor to win the game. Perhaps this Saturday will be just as exciting. For me, either team is a winner, but my allegiance has to be to the school that graduated my wife and mother-in-law and where my daughter is a coed — Go Bucks!

I started out as an intern at WOSU 820. My last radio airdate was on 820 (December 20, 2008). Irony. But t’s a new dcay and I’m ready for 89.7 (again) … can you use an anchor? :)))) Really …

I would like to congratulate WOSU about its programming decisions regarding the switch to the FM dial for both classical programming and all news and interview programs.

Also, I really appreciate having the BBC World News America. It is interesting to get a somewhat different perspective on the news. I found it entertaining that the BBC program spent an entire show reporting on the sentencing of Michael Jackson’s doctor.

B-o-o-o-o-o ! I am sad to see WOSU am go to 89.7 fm. I listened to Bluegrass Ramble on my 60 year old Crosley floor radio for a long time. Nothing sounds as good as old time radio on an old time radio. Sure, I can pick it up on my Japanese fm radio, but it will never be the same.
