Ready To Lead in Literacy Workshops
2007-2008

These workshops are intended for Head Start teachers and parents, Help Me Grow home visitors and parents, certified home child care providers, and staff members of child care centers who provide services to children eligible for Title XX subsidy. It is recommended that you attend all four workshops. For specific information about workshops, call (614) 292-9678 and ask for the Ready to Learn Coordinator.

Community Helpers
Everyday experiences related to children’s interactions with peers, adults and their community are the foundation for learning social studies. In this 2-hour workshop, learn how to incorporate social studies activities into daily routines and learning centers, as well as linking them to relevant children’s books. Workshop activities are aligned with the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Content Standards. Participants will receive children’s books and valuable resources.

Reaching for the Stars
In this 2-hour workshop, a variety of hands-on learning activities will be shared to encourage children to ask questions that help them explore science concepts and the world around them. We will discuss how to incorporate science activities into daily routines, as well as incorporating science experiences with children’s literature. Workshop activities are aligned with the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Content Standards. Participants will receive children’s books and valuable resources.

Count with Me

Long before a child enters school, they instinctively explore math concepts such as sorting, counting, measuring and matching. During this 2-hour workshop, we will engage in multiple hands-on activities to lay a child’s mathematical foundation. Children’s books that highlight math concepts will be shared. Workshop activities are aligned with the Ohio Department of Education’s Early Learning Content Standards. Participants will receive children’s books and valuable resources.
