This is a scene from Weinland Park Elementary’s after school program, just a few blocks from south campus at Ohio State. WOSU is working with the Godman Guild to provide access and training to the latest technology and educational games as part of the afterschool experience in one of Columbus’ poorest areas.

There are only a few of the tablets to go around, so this pilot project, READY TO LEARN – ON THE GO,  is limited in scope. WOSU is seeking additional grant funds to add 30 more tablets and more training for the after school staff.  

The Godman Guild is evaluating the project, and the enthusiasm of the children is infectious. They simply love the touch screen devices and the math and reading games. What better way to advance achievement than to continue the learning after school with the technology kids love to access and use.
