Columbus Neighborhoods: German Village tells the story of the area’s earliest German immigrants, their architecture, way of life, hobbies, and professions. It recounts the tales that have made for neighborhood legend, highlights the lead characters who put today’s German Village on the map, and offers insights to what makes German Village so…German Village.

“The German Village Society is proud to be a part of this collection of stories to honor the city’s bicentennial,” stated Society Board President Dr. Brian Santin. “This level of ambassadorship was a true gift, especially during the Society’s 50th Anniversary. Because of WOSU , the Society was able to document and celebrate our history while a whole new generation of Ohio residents learned of the important place in Columbus’ history that this premiere neighborhood holds.”

German Village is one of Columbus’ oldest neighborhoods and the city’s first historic district. The Fred and Howard Breakfast kicks off the excitement of the annual Haus und Garten Tour. Always the last Sunday in June, the German Village Haus und Garten Tour is an event filled with traditions and surprises, much like the neighborhood it showcases. German Village opens its doors and garden gates for the 52nd Annual Haus und Garten Tour on Sunday, June 26, 2011.
