State agriculture officials say Ohio beekeepers lost 50 to 80 percent of their honeybees over the harsh winter, threatening the farming industry.
PBS Wins Big at Emmys
PBS stations like WOSU are under constant threat of major governmental funding reductions, but last night showed once again that PBS has an important role in bringing quality programming to the air.
PBS programs won 14 Primetime Emmy awards. This is the highest number of primetime Emmy award wins in over 25 years, and the second highest amount in the PBS system’s history.
PBS President Paula Kerger: “My sincere congratulations go out to all of our honored shows, especially MASTERPIECE, which won six awards for “Downton Abbey,” including the win for “Outstanding Miniseries or Movie.” This was the second highest number of Emmys won by a single show this year.”
Other multiple award winners were “Freedom Riders,” with three awards, and AMERICAN MASTERS and GREAT PERFORMANCES, each with two Emmys. A special congratulations to AMERICAN MASTERS for winning the Emmy for “Outstanding Non-Fiction Series” for the 8th time in the past 11 years. This is a truly significant accomplishment.
