Colleges and universities face a new challenge: fewer potential students. They’ve been told for years to brace for a decline in prospective students as the number of high school grads was expected to decline. WOSU talked with some industry experts to find out how they’ve prepared to compete for scholars.
From The Top tapes national show at the McCoy Center
Last Friday night, the NPR program From The Top came to the McCoy Center for the Arts in New Albany. WOSU was the media sponsor for the evening.
If you are familiar with From The Top, which airs on Classical 101 every Sunday at 7 pm, you know the focus is on the next gen of classical musicians. The McCoy program did not disappoint, with a 13-year-old pianist and 16-year-old Cellist. The highlights for most, though, were the performances by Worthington’s own 17-year-old Audrey Watkins on Flute to open the show and the Mittelpunkt Duo from the Chamber Music Connection in Worthington — 17-year-old mezzo-soprano Michaella Cipriani and 18-year-old violist Eva Kennedy.
You can listen to this locally taped national program on Classical 101, May 19 at 7 pm.
